WWII version of Insect River Gunboat, Circa 1940, can be built as either HMS Scarab, HMS Aphis or Cockchafer circa 1942/43. HMS Cockchafer was built in 1915 and was one of 12 Insect Class Gunboats commissioned initially for the River Danube. Operations of World War I included active service in the Middle East, East Coast Home Waters and North Russia by later 1918. After the War, HMS Cockchafer was sent to China for service on the Yangste as part of the China Station. During World War II, HMS Cockchafer had an illustrious career, operating in the Persian Gulf and Mediterranean sea, including operations off Sicily and the Italian Coast. After WWII, HMS CockChafer returned to the Far East and was sold for scrap.
